Classroom discipline policies are at the discretion of our teaching staff. General guidelines for individual classes include warnings before the student is sent to Administration for schoolwide disciplinary procedures.
Any behaviors that cause significant class disruption and are beyond the capacity of the classroom teacher to address will be brought to the attention of a director and administration staff. The Admin on duty will discuss responsibilities and expectations with the student and reintegrate the student into the classroom with the teacher's permission.
Continued disruptive behavior will result in the following steps being taken:
A phone call to a parent/guardian to discuss the behavior and discuss an action plan for mitigating and addressing future disruptive behaviors.
Temporary suspension of the student for a time period determined by the directors and parents/guardians.
Dismissal from the program for the remainder of the school year. The student must reapply and re-audition to be considered for admission to the program.
*Note, depending on the severity of the behavior being addressed, students may skip to later levels in the disciplinary process at administrative discretion.
-
Students are only allowed to use gaming devices with teacher permission, during before care/homeroom time, and after doors open for dismissal. Please Note:
Students are expected not to be on devices during assembly times and performances.
Repeated distractions due to cell phone/device use may result in confiscation.
-
Students are expected to attend all days of the program, but we understand that school events, emergencies, and other exceptions will happen.
Students not in attendance, or otherwise missing a significant amount of program time may be called to determine intentions to continue attending.
Please communicate any absences or intentions to withdraw by emailing ops@jessyenormanschool.org or clicking here.
